Good afternoon!
As part of Operation Sceptre, Neighbourhood Officers have emptied the knife bins in Skelmersdale and we found an assortment of items which people have surrendered. In total we have had almost 150 items from the knife bins. These include kitchen knives, cut throat razors, scissors and cleavers
Knife bins are a safe way to get rid of weapons and keep them off the street for safe destruction
📍 Reduce Crime: Knife bins provide a safe and anonymous way to dispose of knives, helping to reduce the number of weapons on our streets. This can lead to a decrease in knife-related crimes and violence, making our neighbourhood's safer for everyone.
📍 Enhance Public Safety: Removing dangerous weapons from circulation protects our families, friends, and neighbours'. Knife bins are a proactive measure to prevent potential harm and ensure that our public spaces remain safe.
📍 Raise Awareness: The presence of knife bins serves as a powerful reminder of the dangers associated with carrying knives. They are often part of broader educational campaigns that highlight the legal consequences and personal risks of knife possession, encouraging individuals to make positive choices.
🚓 Support The Police: By surrendering knives, you help the Police focus on other critical areas of public safety. Fewer weapons on the streets mean fewer incidents for police to manage, allowing them to dedicate more resources to protecting our communities.
📍 Promote Peaceful Conflict Resolution: Knife bins symbolize a commitment to resolving conflicts without violence. They encourage individuals to seek non-violent solutions and foster a culture of peace and understanding.
