Update for Local Residents – Holmes Street Fire

Hello,

We’re pleased to let you know that the fire on Holmes Street in Burnley is now extinguished.

Public safety remains our top priority, and as the building is in a structurally unsafe condition, we continue to ask local residents to stay away from the area.

We are aware that unknown youths have previously been known to enter the building, so we’d particularly ask residents, parents, and carers in the area to speak with their children and stress that no access to the site should be made - this is for their own safety, due to the dangerous condition of the structure.

Road closures will stay in place for the time being on Holmes Street, while safety assessments and work to stabilise the building continue.

Thanks once again to everyone in the local area for your patience and cooperation.

Kind regards,

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service
