Local Priorities Violent crime Message

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Violent crime, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

Officers have been patrolling Accrington Town Centre today as part of Op Centurion, addressing local concerns about ASB, shoplifting and nuisance behaviour.

During patrol, Officers have been made aware of male with a knife in a licenced premise. The male has been promptly detained and was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon. Knife crime is a serious matter with life changing consequences, and has no place in Accrington.

Should you have a knife which you wish to relinquish, please hand it in to your local Police Station or drop it into an amnesty knife bin. If you have any information regarding people who carry knives, please let us know. Any information passed will be treated confidentially and will help us to tackle this serious issue.
