Burglaries in your area!

Hello Residents of Plungington

Recently we have been made aware of a number of burglary / attempt burglary offences in the local area. Some locations highlighted have been Brackenbury Road area. These have included thefts from vehicles also and motorbikes stored in garages and sheds. We want to let you know some of the ways that you can protect your property and keep property safe.

Thieves are often opportunistic, they will target bikes / motorbikes / and properties that aren't secure or aren't in well lit, overlooked areas covered by CCTV. To make you home more secure some of the following could be done:

KEEP THEM OUT

·  Keep hedges and walls at the front of your house low so burglars have nowhere to hide.

·  Keep side gates locked at all times. Open gates mean burglars can easily access your home without being seen by passers-by or neighbours

·  Keep hedges, walls and fences around your back garden high. Add lightweight trellis to gates and fences and plant some prickly plants to make it harder for burglars to climb over.

·  Gravel driveways and paths to make it harder for burglars to go undetected.

·  Install an outside dusk till dawn light so that intruders can't approach without being seen.

·  Install a burglar alarm and have it maintained annually

·  Always keep your shed locked and secured. Often sheds contain valuables such as power tools and bikes.

·  Never leave tools lying around as they can be used as a way of breaking into your home.

·  Install CCTV
