Operation Hail - Tackling Hate Crime within the Workplace

Good morning everyone,

From 13/10/2025 - 17/10/2025, your local neighbourhood policing team will be visiting local businesses in Lancaster under Operation Hail to spread awareness on how to tackle hate crimes within the workplace, encourage a zero tolerance approach, and see police and employers working together to support victims. It has been identified that most repeat Hate Crime offences are committed against victims whilst they are working, which has made this Operation come to light. 

What is a Hate Crime? Well, any crime can be prosecuted as a hate crime if the offender has either demonstrated prejudice and/or hostility based on race/ethnicity, religion/belief, disabilities, sexual orientation, transgender/gender identity or any alternative subculture. Operation Hail aims to ensure that employers understand that this constitutes a hate crime and points them in the direction of where they can report it.

If you have been a victim of a hate crime yourself or have seen it take place, please report it to 101 or 999 in an emergency. It is important that you report these incidents and share as much information as you can with Police to help identify a victim/offender.
