Parking near St Richard's Primary School |
||
|
Good afternoon,
This is just a message to alert local residents who have children who attend St Richard's Primary School to be mindful of where they park when dropping off and picking up their children.
The main entrance to the school needs to remain clear at all times and there must be enough room on the road for emergency vehicle access. Parents/ guardians dropping off and/ or picking up their kids must ensure that they don't block local residents' driveways as this creates frustration for residents needing to leave and drive out of their estate.
We have had reports from local residents expressing their frustrations concerning their driveways being blocked for an excessive amount of time and on repeated (almost daily) occasions, during both drop off and pick up times. Furthermore, it is unfortunate that some local residents have even reported having received verbal abuse just for politely asking people to move their cars so that they aren't blocking the residents' driveway.
This is unacceptable, and police will be showing a presence outside the school. If anyone is seen to be blocking people's driveways, then words of advice will be given and the driver will be told to move their car.
Police are liaising with the school on this ongoing issue. Whilst we appreciate that the colder winter weather is now approaching, and some parents, guardians or children may have restricted mobility, there is no excuse for people to be blocking residents' driveways. We encourage parents/ guardians to park responsibly and make use of the local car parks close to the school - these car parks include the 2 car parks at the Sandy Lane Centre and the car park at ALDI. All these car parks are within a 5 minute walk to the school.
