Conviction

In June 2025, Lancashire Badger Group reported damage to a Badger sett in the Carnforth area. Following Investigation by Lancaster, Morecambe & Wyre Rural Task Force, on 28th November 2025 Stephen Metcalfe of Barbon was convicted of interfering with a Badger sett at Lancaster magistrates Court. He was fined £875 and ordered to pay costs and a victim surcharge.

Badger persecution is a national Wildlife Crime priority.
