Good Morning Resident,
Would you notice an illegal cannabis farm in your local area? Last week we forced entry at a terraced house on Cliffe Street, Nelson, following intelligence from the community. On the first floor was an extremely dangerous cannabis farm, with overloaded electrical circuits, lighting and wiring, running close to water-filled barrels and leaking irrigation pipes, presenting a huge fire risk. We seized 93 mature cannabis plants from the address, estimated to be worth around £46,000. Tell tale signs of cannabis farms include: - Strong odours – Cannabis crops take around three months to grow, smells can be potent in the final weeks.Covered up windows – Curtains always drawn or windows covered/boarded up from the inside.Lots of condensation – Cannabis plants need a greenhouse like environment to grow. Look out for condensation on the windows.Frequent visitors at unsociable hours. A resident who is only visiting the address infrequently – Some cannabis growers are extremely organised and only tend to the plants a couple of times a week. Plant growing equipment – Look out for potential growers taking lots of plant growing equipment in and out of properties, such as soil/fertiliser and plant waste. Snow – Cannabis farms produce a lot of heat. Be wary of a property without a snow-covered roof. Buzz of ventilation – The constant noise of a fan could be the ventilation for cannabis grows.Vulnerable adults – Sometimes foreign nationals are forced to tend to cannabis farms and are victims of human trafficking/modern slavery. If you've spotted any of these signs, you can email East-Opprosper@lancashire.police.uk or report anonymously to Crimestoppers about any information you have. Any details you share could make a big difference, and we promise to act fast. Regards Rick Operation Prosper |
