Op Robin...

 Your Pendle Neighbourhood team have been out and about on Operation Robin this week.  Op ROBIN is out response to tackle shoplifting offences in the Pendle area. We are have been in local stores in Nelson, Barrowford, Colne and Barnoldswick. Some officers were in plain clothes whilst others in full uniform. 

Three well know offenders were arrested as a result and taken to Blackburn Police Station and are using our overnight ensuite facilities.    

We have been working with members of the retail community in an attempt to radically reduce crime within these stores.  We have also taken our fab colleagues from our crime prevention team who have been advising stores on how to achieve this.  We believe working together we can bring shoplifting and antisocial behaviour down.

Once offenders are/have been arrested we will then apply to the courts for a ‘CBO’ banning the offender from the store/s.

When offenders commit theft in stores this can be witnessed by innocent members of the public which can be concerning and in some cases upsetting. Reducing such crime  will not only reduce theft but antisocial behaviour also.   

We will continue to run Op Robin throughout December and beyond.
