Good morning, 

This is just a quick update on the work PCSO Waterworth and I are undertaking in relation to the youth related Anti-Social Behaviour, by a small group of youths who seem to want to cause nothing but problems in the town. 

We are well aware that anti-social behaviour is rising again, however, the behaviour of some youths has crossed a line from anti-social, to criminal. We are getting reported incidents of criminal damage and also racially aggravated public order.

None of this is, or will, be tolerated and action is being taken to address these issues. 

So far, 2 youths have been formally interviewed under caution for criminal damage in Barnoldswick Town Square, one of those youths is now being referred to the Youth Offending Team.

Further youths are to be interviewed regarding other offences of criminal damage and racially aggravated public order.

Please be aware that we have to follow judicial processes set out for action taken against youths. This can range from referring youths into diversionary courses such as the Youth Offending Team through to being sent to court for prosecution. I will be pushing for some of the offences committed to be prosecuted. 

I would like to add that the vast majority of youths in Barnoldswick are well behaved and polite, and that the unacceptable behaviour is being committed by only a handful of youths.
