E-scooters, E-bikes/Surron's and scrambler bikes |

Good morning and Happy New Year!
Over the Christmas period we saw a significant increase in the use of E-scooters, E-bikes/Surron's and scrambler bikes being ridden in the local area, in particular on Ryelands Park. The vast majority of those reports described the riders as being young children/teenagers who were not wearing any protective equipment and riding them dangerously putting other road users and members of public at risk of serious injury.
On the 30th December, we reported a 15 year old female, who was riding an off-road scrambler bike, for using a motor vehicle without 3rd party insurance, driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence and failing to stop for a constable. She will be appearing in court in due course.
On 1st January, we arrested a 28 year old male, who was riding a high-powered Surron, for driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the legal limit, driving whilst disqualified and using a motor vehicle without 3rd party insurance. He has been released under investigation whilst the investigation continues.
Both of the above vehicles were taken off the road and seized.
