MOSS LANE GARSTANG - Information update |
Good Morning, We would just like to update you on the incident that caused the road closure on Moss Lane, Garstang around 8AM on the 26th January 2026. Police were informed that a Council refuse vehicle had spontaneously combusted causing a fire in the rear of the vehicle whilst conducting the bin collections. The refuse driver quickly reacted and disposed of the contents on Windsor road. The fire brigade attended the scene quickly & extinguished the fire, whilst Police closed the road to protect the public from further dangers. At present it is not known what caused the fire.
As a reminder, never put batteries or items containing lithium batteries in your household bins. They can ignite when crushed in collection vehicles. Dispose of batteries safely at local shops or Household Waste Recycling Centres.
We are thankful that no one was injured in this incident, and we remain committed to protecting the safety of the staff and the community. We take this opportunity to remind the wider community of the importance of disposing correctly. If you need to review any of the following: Visit : Recycling – Wyre Council Regards PCSO Nick 7259
