OP RALLY - CENTRAL AREA |
||
|
Hi Resident Hyndburn Neighbourhood Officers were out in force in the Central areas of Hyndburn for another Operation Rally on Wednesday 25th February to tackle concerns raised from our communities. (Central areas include: Huncoat, Milnshaw, Church, Peel, Barnfield, Woodnook and Baxenden). Neighbourhood Officers conducted a joint operation on Burnley Road in Huncoat with DVSA. Officers conducted checks for defects and issued six prohibition notices to keep unsafe vehicles off our roads. Road Safety around schools had been highlighted for speeding issues, and so were targeted by officers. Overall, the team attended Lee Royds Nursery, Woodnook Primary School, Baxenden St Johns Primary School, Peel Park Primary, Accrington Academy and Hollins Technology School where parking issues were raised at the start and finish of the school day as being an issue. A number of drivers and occupants were given advice in relation to child restraints and parking. We also had the opportunity to meet all the nursery children and introduce ourselves and discuss how the police can help them. Community Roadwatch highlighted two sites, Thorneyholme Road and Royds Avenue, so activity was taken, with 104 vehicles monitored and 4 were found to have contravened the speed limit and will be dealt with accordingly. One driver was stopped and found to not have a valid MOT; the driver was also found with a quantity of cannabis and was robustly dealt with at the roadside. During the day, opportunities were given to residents wishing to speak with officers at our Mobile Police Station, which was situated at Wellington Court, Woodnook and Bolton Road Playing Fields, Huncoat. Officers also hosted 'Coffee with a Cop' meetings at Baxenden Village Club on Manchester Road and Edward Court, Church, where officers listened to concerns raised by residents including speeding and parking. Officers were out on foot patrol with a focus on retail areas, where businesses appreciated the attention given. During discussions, Lancashire Talking/IntheKnow was highlighted, with people signing up to this service to receive alerts and register their concerns with us. Have your say: Complete the Lancashire Talking survey. https://orlo.uk/230eV You can also register your speeding concerns on https://lancsroadsafety.co.uk Regards Hyndburn Neighbourhood Policing Team
