Unroadworthy Vehicles

We are reminding vehicle owners that any car left on a public road must be taxed, insured, and have a valid MOT where required.

Vehicles that do not meet these legal requirements can pose a risk to other road users and the wider community. Leaving untaxed or unroadworthy vehicles on the highway  may result in enforcement action.

Police and partner agencies carry out regular operations throughout the borough, in the coming weeks we will be looking at this area and any vehicles found on the road without the proper Tax, Insurance or MOT may be subject to being seized.

If you have a vehicle that is not road‑legal, it must be kept off the public road, such as on a driveway or in a garage.

We ask residents and businesses to check their vehicles and ensure they are compliant. This helps keep your streets safe, accessible, and free from abandoned or dangerous vehicles.
