On Saturday 2 May, police were notified of an incident at a property off Raikes Road, Great Eccleston. Reports indicated that a group of approximately eight youths, believed to be aged between 13–15 years, were causing damage at the address. Officers attended promptly and prevented the youths from leaving the area. Positive action was taken in relation to the individual responsible for smashing windows at the property. All youths were conveyed home by police, and parents/guardians were spoken to by attending officers.
We would also remind parents and guardians of the dangers of entering private land and properties, particularly in rural areas. These locations can present significant and often hidden risks, including agricultural machinery, plant equipment, and other measures landowners may have in place to protect their property. Many older buildings may also contain hazardous materials, such as asbestos roofing, which can be extremely fragile. There is a serious risk of injury from falls through roofs or from height, and these dangers are not always immediately obvious. Parents and guardians are encouraged to speak with young people about staying away from private property for their own safety.
