|
Good afternoon, Next week is Operation Sceptre Week of action. This is a national initiative focused on tackling and preventing knife crime. In line with this, we are carrying out a couple of engagements in your area to tackle knife crime and spread awareness of the laws surrounding knifes.
It is illegal to carry a knife in public in the UK without lawful reason. “A blade by law is anything longer than 3 inches”. It is illegal to possess: any knife or blade that is concealed or disguised. Any type of sword with a straight blade of 14 inches or more. A Zombie Knife or Machete A knife where the blade opens automatically or is released i.e. a “flick knife” or “switch blade” For more guidance around carrying/possessing knifes please visit Selling, buying and carrying knives and weapons - GOV.UK
Knife crime devastates family’s all over the UK. These are a few ways you can help us reduce knife crime in your area: Report any suspected knife crime issues to us on 101 or report online through the Lancashire constabulary website. In an emergency, ring 999. Report any stores to trading standards for sales of knives to under 18’s through Citizens Advice. Know the locations of your local Knife bins:
A knife bin is a place where you can safely dispose of a knife, blade or other weapon.
Your closest one to the Garrison area is on Gamull Lane in Ribbleton. For all Knife Bin Locations visit Knife Bin Locations - Lancashire Violence Reduction Network
Stay posted, as at the end of the week; I’ll give a rundown of what we’ve been doing!
