Community Safety Message – Off-Road & Illegal Bikes |
||
|
Good afternoon,
We’ve had an increase in reports of off-road and illegal bikes being used in our area, often on public roads, footpaths, parks, and open spaces. This behaviour can be dangerous, cause nuisance, and put both riders and members of the public at risk.
🚫Please remember: · Off-road bikes, scramblers, and quad bikes are not permitted on public roads or public land unless they are fully road-legal (taxed, insured, and registered). · Riding on pavements, parks, or footpaths is illegal and can lead to police action.
📞How to report incidents: If you see illegal or anti-social use of bikes, please report it using the correct channels: · In an emergency or if there is immediate danger → Call 999 · For non-emergency incidents → Call 101 or report online Report a Crime or Incident - Lancashire Constabulary - Report Online · You can also provide information anonymously via Crimestoppers (0800 555 111)
📝 When reporting, try to include: · Location, date, and time · Description of the bike(s) and rider(s) · Direction of travel · Any photos or videos (if safe to do so)
✅ Your information helps police identify repeat offenders and take action.
Let’s work together to keep our community safe and enjoyable for everyone.
Thank you for your continued support
