I wanted to share some good news with you about targeting criminality in the area. As you know officers from the Prosper partnership are now focused on this area and want to improve the community. I have always said that we cannot do this on our own and your information is key to this. Working together will bring about positive results which is what we aim to achieve.

Two men have been charged after drugs were seized at a house in Nelson. Officers from the Pendle Neighbourhood Police team carried out a warrant at a property on Regent Street, Nelson, last Thursday (11th June). A significant amount of drugs and drug paraphernalia were found. Five men were arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply. Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Abid Ashraf, 48, of Barkerhouse Road, Nelson, and Amir Shah, 29, of Valley Close, Nelson, were charged with possession of heroin with intent to supply and possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply. Both men appeared before Preston Magistrates Court on Saturday (13th June) and were remanded to appear at Burnley Crown Court on 13th July. The three other men arrested, aged 52, 47 and 41, were released under investigation.
