Livestock at The Moor |
||
|
We have received reports regarding livestock being attacked. The law and guidance is clear and we urge people to be responsible when they are walking their dogs. Worrying sheep is an offence under Dogs Protection of Livestock Act 1953. The latest report is from White Coppice, The Moor where a lamb has been attacked by a dog and left for someone to find it. Worrying livestock can also include a dog chasing sheep. There does not have to be any physical contact for the offence to be committed. The stress of a dog being loose in a field alone can cause sheep to die or loose their lambs. Please take responsibility for your dogs and make sure they are not allowed anywhere near livestock without a lead on. Well trained or not, your dog can kill livestock Thank you
