Keeping our Streets Clean Starts with You – Report Dog Fouling!!
Good afternoon,
Through various platforms recently including the survey via Lancashire Talking, estate walkabouts, and having it raised as a concern via PACT, Dog Fouling has recently been raised as one of your top issues in your community.
Dog fouling is unpleasant and affects the look, feel, and safety of our streets and green spaces. Dog faeces can carry harmful bacteria and parasites and can pose an environmental concern if it pollutes our waterways. If you spot dog mess that hasn’t been cleaned up, you can report it directly to your local council — they are the organisation responsible for dealing with these issues.
While we understand how frustrating dog fouling can be, it isn’t something the police can typically enforce. Councils have the powers to investigate, issue fines, and act against repeat offenders. Reporting it to them ensures it reaches the right team who can make a difference. As your local neighbourhood policing team, we continue to work with our partners at the council and feed back any concerns or specific problems with them.
If you see dog fouling in your area: 👉 Report it to your local council using their online “Report It” service. Dog fouling - Preston City Council 👉 Share the location and any useful details so they can respond quickly. The more information we can share the better including dates, times, locations, what you have witnessed, description of the dog, description of the owner.
A typical question often asked – We Need a Dog Wate Bin in the Area, who should I ask?
The council no longer install new dog waste bins. All dog waste can go into litter bins, if it is suitably wrapped in a dog waste gad. If you still think you need a new litter bin email neighbourhoodservices@preston.gov.uk
Thank you for helping keep our communities cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable for everyone.
