Dear Resident 

Your Neighbourhood Team want to make you aware of a concerning issue of cold callers in the Thornton-Cleveleys area. 

We have received 3 calls in the past 3 days in relation to males in a van approaching residents stating they have issues with their roof or drains and asking for large sums of money up front to complete the work. Of concern, on more than one occasion the resident has been taken to the bank to with draw the funds. 

We want to ensure that no further residents become a victim of these unscrupulous individuals. 

Trading Standards advice in relation to cold callers states - never buy goods or services from uninvited doorstep callers - if you agree to purchases or work over £42 on your doorstep, UK law gives you a mandatory 14 day cooling off period - do NOT pay any cash upfront and never allow workers to take you to the bank to withdraw money.
