Fly Tipping and Waste License Operation

Burnley Neighbourhood Police and Burnley Council have again been targeting fly tippers and ensuring waste is carried legally

During one of our operations on Tuesday 25th August we conducted numerous traffic stops, served four section 34 notices under the EPA 1990 asking all waste removals companies for their waste transfer notes (this shows us that they are discarding of the waste correctly) and served one Section 1 Notice under Control of Pollution for an individual to produce their waste carriers license as he was carrying household waste

We also have made enquiries regarding a repeat offender with arrest enquires now on an international scale

Illegal waste removal and fly tipping not only damages the local environment and community but funds international organsied crime

Burnley Police and council are dedicated to ensuring that this activity does not go unpunished and we take all reports seriously

This joint approach ensures that both agencies are aware of issues and deal with issues as swiftly as possible
