St Georges Church, Chapel Street and Chorley Interchange

Good Afternoon,

You told us that many people were congregating in St Georges church, sitting on the benches on Chapel Street and sitting on the railings at Chorley Interchange causing Anti Social Behaviour. 

The mix of men and women were drinking alcohol, shouting and swearing whilst fighting amongst themselves. 

This behaviour made you feel intimidated and unsafe shopping in Chorley town centre which is unacceptable.

Chorley is a fantastic market town and the people involved in this behaviour should be ashamed of themselves. 

Firstly, we attended the areas and spoke with the people involved, took their details, poured alcohol away and asked them to move on. 

Unfortunately they continued acting in an Anti Social Manner, 3 people were arrested.

As the group clearly have no respect for our community the Chorley Neighbourhood Team attended in mass and issued Community Protection Warnings to each person involved.

We issued 15 CPW'S which have the following conditions-

Not to engage or threaten to engage in any behaviour which may cause harassment, alarm or distress to any person within the area on the map provided

Not to use, or encourage other people to use foul, abusive, threatening, intimidating, aggressive or discriminatory language within the area on the map provided

Not to have an open container of alcohol within the area outlined in the map.

The map boarders are Astley Road, Park Road, Union Street, Chorley bypass (Shepherds Way), George Street, Pall Mall, Carrington Road and Ashfield Road. 

The map includes all of Astley Park.

Not to enter St Georges Church grounds or the grounds of Chorley Bus Interchange (the steps and ramped area)

The Chorley Neighbourhood team will continue to provide a high visibility presence in the area and anyone breaching their CPW will be issued with a Community Protection Notice.
