Information sent on behalf of Lancashire Constabulary

Dear Citizen
We are trying to trace witnesses who saw a disorder incident in Oswaldtwistle yesterday evening (Friday, July 10th). Could this be you?

It happened at around 5:30pm after a man was confronted by a group on Haworth Street and has run off in the direction of Paddock Street.

The men have then followed him in three cars on to Paddock Street, with a number of them getting out armed with baseball bats and knives.

They have tried to enter a house and smashed up a Mini parked up on the street.

Two cars – a silver Honda Accord and a light coloured Civic – were found abandoned in the vicinity shortly afterwards. We believe that these vehicles were involved in the incident.

Detectives want to speak to two drivers who were on the street at the time but unable to pass due to the commotion in the road. One of these was a red VW van and the other was a dark coloured Volvo saloon-type car. If you think this was you, or you know anything about the incident, we need you to make contact. We are particularly interested in any dash cam footage.

You can call Blackburn CID on 01254 353628 or 101 quoting incident reference 1075 of July 10th.  Alternatively you can email 2921@lancashire.pnn.police.uk.

Independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.

We would like to reassure local residents that we think the offenders and the man they were looking for are known to each other and it relates to an on-going dispute.
